Ultraviolencia a cámara lenta mientras suena "Midnight rider", apariciones de Ginger Lynn y Otis Rush, sheriffs psicopatas, payasos asesinos, referencias a Elvis y Johnny Cash, Fords, Cadillacs, sexo, drogas y rock sureño. La espectacular escena final con "Freebird" a todo trapo es IMPRESIONANTE.

Jess Willard murió de una ataque al corazón en 1959. Le pusieron ese nombre en honor al gigante de Potawatamie, el campeón de los pesados Jess Willard. Dejó nueve años de carrera, muchos fracasos y una sonora despedida de Capitol Records. En 1955, tras girar con Eddie y Hank Cochran teloneando a Lee Hazelwood por la Costa Oeste, Willard grabó este álbum: "Honky Tonk Hardwood floor". Los Cochran tocan en dos temas, y la magia del hillbilly más rocoso se funde con el tremendo swing rockabilly de la nueva era. Un disco que comercialmente no llegó a ninguna parte y que, reeditado ahora por Bear Family, constituye un extraordinario testimonio de la rutina musical de los 50: la vieja guardia western-swing tratando de rockear alegremente para deleite del adolescente medio, y del suyo propio. Willard, ahí donde le veis, se trajinó un alto número de menores en su corta, admirable y atolondrada carrera.
